Steam: Forgot your account - now what?

You need your Steam account details to log in to your account and get access to your games. If you have forgotten your account data, there are several methods to reset it.

Steam: what to do if you forget your account password

In order to access your already purchased Steam games, download them or buy new games, you need to log in to your Steam account. For this, all you need is your account name and the corresponding password. If you do not remember these login details, there are several ways to recover your Steam account.

1. If you still remember the account name and the email address used, please open Steam in the browser or as an app on your PC and click on "Forgot login info? Retrieve old account".
2. In the window that opens, then activate the option "I know my account name" and click "Next".
3. Now you will be prompted to enter your account name and then receive an email with a confirmation code that you can use to change your password.

How to regain access to Steam without account data

If you do not remember your password or the name of your Steam account, the procedure described above is not usable. Instead, after clicking on "Forgot login info? Retrieve old account", select the option "I don't know my account name" and click "Next". You will then have two methods to choose from to regain access to your account. To do so, enter either the email address you used to register or the product code of a Steam game you purchased.
