Zoom: End-to-end encryption

Since the end of 2020, Zoom offers the possibility to use video meetings with end-to-end encryption. This feature gives you additional security and increases the protection of your data, especially for confidential video conferences. You can find out how here.

How activating end-to-end encryption works on Zoom

By activating end-to-end encryption, Zoom's security is increased even further. With these steps, you as a user enable end-to-end encryption:
  1. Log in to Zoom and navigate to Settings.
  2. Click on "Meeting" and within the menu click on "Security"
  3. Check if the "Allow use of end-to-end encryption" feature is enabled. If not, enable encryption by clicking "Turn on".
  4. To complete the process, click "Save".
Depending on the usage type, the option to "Allow use of end-to-end encryption" may be grayed out and thus cannot be enabled by yourself. Only your organization's Zoom administrator can enable encryption in this case. However, Zoom recommends using the option only when additional data protection is a particularly high priority, due to certain limitations of end-to-end encryption.
