Xiaomi MI 9: Zoom - what you need to know about the feature

The Xiaomi MI 9 has very good cameras that allow you to take sharp pictures even at some distance. This is only possible thanks to the zoom, which is installed on the back of the phone. The MI 9 is the first Xiaomi smartphone with a triple camera setup.

The triple camera setup on the back of the smartphone consists of a 48 MP sensor that produces 12 MP images, a 2x telephoto lens that lets you zoom in to up to twice the size, and a wide-angle lens with 117° Field of View that has 16 MP.

1. To use the zoom, simply open the Photos app.
2. Now make a sliding motion apart with two fingers on the screen.
3. First, zoom in with the optical zoom until it is no longer possible. If you have arrived at 2x, the zoom makes a short pause.
4. If you now make the same movement again, the digital zoom activates. This is only digitally zoomed into the image and no longer really physically.

In addition, the cameras have some additional features with which you can still shoot good photos even in particularly high or low light. For this, the strength of the captured light is relevant. This is at f/1.75.
