Word: subscript numbers - you have this option

In Word you have numerous functions at your disposal with which you can create and customize your document. If you want to write special formulas, the integrated formula editor can help you. Alternatively, you have the option to subscript numbers using a suitable key combination.

How to subscript numbers in Word

If you want to insert chemical formulas into your Word document or highlight certain words, you have the option to subscript numbers. If you want to write a mathematical formula, it is a good idea to use the formula editor. Here there are separate formatting settings for your input. However, if you want to make the number deeper within the text, you can use the corresponding option or a key combination.
  1. To make a number deeper, move the cursor to the position where you want to insert the number.
  2. Then write the desired number at this position.
  3. Now highlight the number and switch to the "Start" tab at the top, if you have not already done so.
  4. Then click on the "X2" icon under "Font". Alternatively, you can click directly on the icon and then write as many subscripted characters as you like. To deactivate the mode again, click on the icon again.
  5. If, on the other hand, you would like to use a key combination, then highlight the numbers you want to subscript again. Then press the keys "Ctrl" + "#" simultaneously.
