Android Smart Lock: Set up trusted location

If you use an Android smartphone, you have the option to enable the Smart Lock feature. After that, you can set up a trusted location. In this location, your device will remain unlocked at all times. This way, there is no need to enter a PIN or pattern to access your content.

How to set up a trusted location

With the smart lock feature on your Android device, you can make settings that will automatically unlock or lock your device. This gives you the option to add a trusted location where your smartphone is always unlocked and you can access your content without entering a PIN or pattern. Note, however, that you must first enable Smart Lock before you can add the location.
  1. After you enable Smart Lock on your device, open the security menu. This can be found in the settings on your Android smartphone.
  2. Now select the item "Smart Lock" here.
  3. Then click on the entry "Trusted locations".
  4. Here you have the option to select "Home". This item is only available if you have already entered your home on Google Maps. Alternatively, click on "Add trusted place".
  5. To automatically add the place where you are, activate your GPS. Then tap on the target.
  6. Alternatively, you can touch any location on the map to highlight it.
  7. Once you have selected the right location, tap on "Select this location".
  8. Then confirm the location by clicking "OK" and it will be added to your trusted locations.
