Firefox: This connection is not trusted - all info

If you want to access a website in Mozilla Firefox and only get the message "This connection is not trusted", this is due to a problem with the website's certificate of authenticity. Find out here what it's all about and how to work around the message.

How to bypass the warning message "This connection is not trusted"

Websites usually use encrypted communication - especially when it comes to personal or sensitive data, such as online banking. For this to work, the authenticity of a website must be confirmed by appropriate certificates. If such a certificate is missing or cannot be verified by the browser, you will receive the message "This connection is not trusted". You can bypass the warning with an exception rule. However, do this only if you are absolutely sure. If in doubt, it is better to avoid the website or wait until the problem has been fixed by the operator.
  1. Open the Firefox browser and call up the website on which you receive the warning message.
  2. Click on "I know the risk" and then select the option "Add exception...". A new window will then open, allowing you to customize the security settings.
  3. Click on "Download certificate". You will then get info about the status and issues of the requested certificate.
  4. You can now add an exception for the website by clicking "Confirm security exception rule".
After that, you can visit the website again as usual without getting the warning message.
