Setting AirPods - how it works

By setting your AirPods correctly, you have the option of using them not only to listen to music, but also to make phone calls and control Siri. We will show you here which settings you can make and how to do it correctly.

How to set your AirPods individually

Once you have successfully connected your AirPods to your iPhone or iPad, you can then make some settings. To view the available settings, first open the AirPods case and tap the "Info icon" under "Settings" > "Bluetooth" on the mobile device.
  1. To change the name of your AirPods, please tap on the current name, enter a new name and confirm the change with "Done".
  2. To specify which action is performed when you double-click on the AirPods, first select the left or right AirPod respectively. Then determine whether you want to double-click to activate and use Siri, or double-click to control audio playback.
  3. Automatic ear detection can also be turned on or off via the Info menu. If this is activated, the AirPods detect whether they are in your ear and stop or start music playback accordingly.

AirPods: How to set the microphone

Since both the right and left AirPods have a microphone, you can use them to make calls or use Siri. Here, you have the choice of using both AirPods or just one of them as a microphone. To use only one AirPod as a microphone, select either the "Always left" or "Always right" option in the Info menu.
