Drone license - how to get permission

In these cases you need a drone license

After a new drone regulation was published in 2017, it has now been revised. The new regulation will apply from 2021 and consists of two new EU drone licenses. For the "small" driving license or proof of competence class A1/A3, it is necessary to answer 40 questions from various topics. The license is valid for drones classified C1/C3 or 500 grams and above takeoff weight. For larger drones between 500 grams to 2 kilograms or a C2 certification, the "large" drone license is required, also known as the EU Remote Pilot Certificate A2. In addition, there are numerous other specifications that must be observed.

Drones: How to get the license

If you already have a pilot's license, this also applies as proof for the use of drones. Otherwise, the following paths are open to you to obtain a license to fly a drone. You need 75 percent to pass the exam.

1. For the "small" drone license, there is already an online offer that consists of 40 questions.
2. Sign up on the appropriate page and learn with the help of the offered course. Then you can take the exam online as well. This will cost you about 30 euros.
3. In the A2-Fernpiloten certificate you will be asked 30 questions. There are various training packages from online exams to several days of classroom training.
4. In addition, you still have to take a practical exam here. To the existing certifications there are also special cases.
