Windows 10: Sandbox setup - how to use the feature

In Windows 10, you have been able to use the Sandbox feature for some time. This gives you the option of using a system that is separated from the actual operating system, so that you can test suspicious software. The sandbox offers all the functions that are also available in your currently installed Windows.

How to set up the Sandbox feature in Windows 10

In Windows 10 Pro, it is possible to set up the Sandbox feature. With this, you have the possibility to test applications in a safe environment and check their effects on your system. The sandbox provides all the functions that are also available in your version of Windows. However, programs and applications installed by you are not included. If you want to use the feature, your system must meet some requirements. You need Windows 10 Pro as a 64-bit version. In addition, you need Build 18305 or higher, at least 4 GB of memory and a CPU that is suitable for virtualizations.
  1. Open the Run dialog with the key combination "Windows" + "R".
  2. Enter "optionalfeatures" in the text field and confirm this with the "Enter" key.
  3. Search for "Windows Sandbox" in the list and check the box to the left of it.
  4. Confirm the selection with "Ok".
  5. The function has now been set up. If you want to start Sandbox, then enter "Sandbox" in the search bar at the bottom left of the desktop.
