Windows 7: Install fonts - how it works

Windows is very easy to extend with various functions and content. Also, new fonts can be installed in no time and require almost no previous knowledge of computer science. However, a certain file format is needed for installation, which you download online.

New fonts for the operating system

Fonts are a dime a dozen. Even after a cursory Google search, you can find several thousands of new fonts on various sites.

1. Now to install a font in Windows, you need a font file.
2. On the website dafont you will find numerous fonts that are available for free download.
3. Select a font and click on "Download" at the top right.
4. You will now receive a ZIP archive, which you must unzip on your computer.
5. There is a file in TTF format, which you now double-click.
6. It opens a new window with a preview of the font. Oben rechts befindet sich ein Button mit der Aufschrift „Installieren“.
7. Sobald Sie die Schaltfläche anklicken, installiert sich die Schrift in Ihr Betriebssystem.

Alternative Installation

1. Da dieser Schritt für viele Schriften auf einmal sehr mühsam ist, können Sie auf eine andere Methode zurückgreifen.
2. Navigieren Sie in den Ordner [C:\Windows\Fonts].
3. Dort können Sie per Drag & Drop alle Schriftdateien in den Ordner ziehen und anschließend schließen.
4. Durch die Befindlichkeit in diesem Ordner ist die Schrift bereits in Windows installiert.
