The remote procedure call failed - what to do?

Before your computer goes into a stall, you will already notice that everything slows down. If you can't do anything after a certain point, you'll be confronted with the message "The remote procedure call failed."

"The remote procedure call failed" - here's how to solve the problem

When you get the error message, you shouldn't panic. Because in most cases you can quickly solve the problem:
  1. To fix the problem, press the Start button of Windows.
  2. You will now see a menu. Look there for the sub-item "Computer" and use a right-click.
  3. You will now see the context menu of Windows. Look for the item "Manage" and select it.
  4. In the new menu there is an option "Services and Applications".
  5. Use a right click to open the options in the category "Services".
  6. A list will appear on your screen again. Look there for the entry "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)".
  7. Look if the entry "started" is noted behind it.
  8. If this is not the case, you have to make this setting using a right-click.
  9. Now your computer should work as usual.

What you can do if your computer stops responding

If you have no other option left, you have to shut down your PC. If you can't do this item through the control, you need to hold down the power button of your PC until the device shuts down.
