YouTube: Enable bell - here's how and what it does

If you're subscribed to a YouTube channel, you probably want to be notified about new videos. To make sure this really happens, it is advisable to enable the bell.

When the bell rings: You have to enable notifications manually.

The bell stands for notifications on YouTube. This means that you must also activate the bell for subscribed channels to always stay up to date.

This is how you activate the bell on YouTube

In the web view of YouTube it goes like this:
  1. Call up the channel.
  2. Top right next to "Subscribed" is the bell icon. Click on it.
  3. Now you can choose whether the bell should be activated with "All" or "Personalized".
In both cases it is active afterwards and you will be notified about new videos. In the app, it goes quite the same: for subscribed channels, you will see a bell in the right pane, with which you can activate the notifications. If a channel has set "specifically for children" as the target audience, the bell is not available. You can set other settings options about notifications in this area.
