Valheim: Improve FPS - with this trick it works

Lower graphics settings help to achieve a higher frame rate, as we all know. In the case of Valheim, however, there is a trick you can use to significantly improve FPS even without sacrificing graphics.

Valheim is already an absolute mega-hit in Early Access, and the old-looking graphics don't seem to be a hindrance. Nevertheless, even modern PCs can still gain performance.

Valheim: How to increase the FPS

Proceed as follows:

1. Open the folder "Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\valheim_Data".
2. Open the file "boot.config" there.
3. Enter "gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1" in the first line, then save and close the file.
4. Right-click on Valheim in Steam.
5. Select "Properties".
6. There you can enter your own commands under "Startup Options". Add "-window-mode exclusive".
7. Close the window and start Valheim.
8. Open the Task Manager (with "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Del").
9. Under "Details" you will find the entry "valheim.exe". Set the priority to "High".

As experience has shown, FPS increases of 10 or even significantly more are possible through this process, some players even report over 30. This depends on the system and the configuration. It should be noted that the last step, namely the priority in the task manager, must be performed again after each game start.
