Setting the BIOS correctly - how to make the right choice

The BIOS represents the interface between the hardware and the software. This makes the settings that are made within the BIOS very important for the stability and performance of your device. If you want to change something in the BIOS yourself, you should be very careful.

Setting it correctly: How to get into the BIOS

Before you can make changes to the BIOS settings, it is necessary to open it. To do this, reboot your PC or laptop while holding down the button to open the BIOS. Usually, this works with the F1, F2 or Del keys.

How to set your BIOS correctly

Before making any adjustments to the BIOS, keep in mind that you should only do so if you know exactly what the changes will do. If you make decisions without knowledge of the BIOS, the system may be damaged and you may not be able to boot your PC at all.
  1. Different settings are needed if you want to improve power consumption than if you want to strengthen speed and stability.
  2. You can ensure system stability if you set the default settings for your hardware.
  3. In the AMI BIOS, for example, you can select "Load Setup Defaults" from the "Exit" menu. This is called "Load Optimized Default" in the Award BIOS.
  4. Click the "Return" button to select this item.
  5. The PC will automatically reboot with the default settings.
  6. You can use appropriate benchmarks to test whether the settings were worth it and whether the performance and stability of your PC have improved.
