Excel: Calculate overtime - here's how
With Microsoft's Excel spreadsheet program, not only can you calculate prices, but times are no problem either. For example, you can easily have Excel calculate your overtime. For this you only needed the appropriate table and a few simple functions.
How to calculate overtime in Excel
With Excel, the best way to calculate overtime is in a separate table.- Insert the headings "Date", "Start of work", "End of work", "Break", "Hours" in the first row one after the other.
- Now right-click on the cell under Date and select "Format cells".
- Select the term "Date" in the "Number" tab and choose your desired date format. Click "OK" to confirm the formatting.
- Now select the cell that contains the date and, holding down the mouse button, drag the small box at the bottom right of the selection to other cells below it. The date should adjust itself.
- Proceed with the cells under "Start of work", "End of work", "Break" and "Hours" in the same way, except that here you select time. It is best to choose the second format.
- Now select the last cell under hours. In diese schreiben Sie praktisch die Berechnung der Stunden.
- In diese Zelle schreiben Sie nun „=C2-B2-D2“, also Arbeitsende – Arbeitsbeginn – Pause.
- Ziehe Sie diese Zelle genauso über die anderen Zellen, wie Sie es schon mit der Datumsspalte getan haben.
