Using Android on Mac - how to get your favorite apps

Both Android and Apple have their merits, and that's why you might be very interested in being able to use your favorite Android app on your Mac as well. Find out how that works for you here.

How does the combination work?

To use your favorite Android apps on your Mac, you need to use an Android emulator.
  • Android Studio: this free application provides you with a full-featured development environment for Android. However, you will need some basic programming knowledge to use this application.
  • BlueStacks, Andy & Xamarin: These applications allow you to use the apps you want on Mac using VirtualBox technology. However, these emulators are very demanding and take up a lot of your processor.
  • Android X86: This variant is actually not an emulator in the classic sense. It allows you to install a virtual machine by creating a virtual Linux PC. This allows you to access the virtual machine directly when you start your Mac and launch the Android applications you want. A key advantage is that this option is free of charge.
No matter which option you want to use, it is important that you choose one. Because if you use multiple variants in parallel, it will overwhelm your Mac and you may experience severe problems.

What is which option suitable for?

Variants such as BlueStacks and Andy are optimal for using games and similar application on your Mac. If you are more interested in the development of Android solutions, then you should turn to helps like Android Studio.
