Gmail: Delete draft - here's how it works

As soon as you start composing a mail in Gmail, it is saved as a draft and stored continuously. If you end up not wanting to send the mail after all, you can simply delete the draft.

One click: You can delete drafts in Gmail without any hassle.

Thanks to drafts, you won't lose any mails in Gmail due to technical or human errors before they are sent. Deleting drafts is just as straightforward.

Gmail: How to delete drafts

Drafts can be easily deleted:
  1. In the web view, you will see the number of drafts in the menu on the left.
  2. Consequently, you need to click on "Drafts" to see all drafts.
  3. Hover the mouse pointer over the line of the draft you want to delete and click the trash can icon on the right.
The draft will then be deleted and disappear from the overview. If you accidentally deleted the draft, you can find it in the recycle bin and restore it. However, this is only possible in the period until the recycle bin is emptied.
