EVE Online: Developer builds graveyard into the game - all info

The community of EVE Online is known for its strong cohesion. This even extends beyond (real) life, as the now official cemetery in the game world impressively demonstrates. We have all the info.

Rest in peace - even online: In EVE Online, deceased players are not forgotten.

Not every game has a happy ending - just like reality. For EVE players who passed away early in life, there is an official memorial in the game.

Cemetery in EVE Online: Player project gets official successor

In EVE Online, numerous friendships and acquaintances have developed. Many contacts are also maintained outside the game, serious topics are the order of the day.And especially the long-time players always stand out with their commitment. The best example of this is the cemetery in the world of EVE:
  • Years ago, monuments were set in the game to players who had died in the real world. These orbit in the system Molea II around the first moon, the space station is operated by the player "Azia Burgi".
  • Due to the popularity, developer CCP has added an additional monument to the online universe in September 2019. The gigantic memorial, which consists of three columns, serves the memory of all deceased players and is to replace the previous cemetery.
  • This also has technical reasons, since the many circling graves provide performance problems.
Another monument, by the way, is in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik, the home of CCP Games. Located at the harbor, the artwork features the names of all EVE players who were active in EVE Online until March 1, 2014. It is a tribute to all the people who have contributed to the success of the space MMO.
