Enabling DHCP Server on Fritzbox - how to do it

A DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server assigns the same IP address and the required IP settings to all devices in a network over and over again. A device will only receive a new address if all other IPs are already occupied. For this to work, the Fritzbox must be set up correctly.

How to enable the DHCP server on Fritzbox?

Normally, the function is enabled at the factory and can only be disabled if you or someone else has made this setting. To re-enable DHCP, only a few steps are required.
  1. Open the Fritzbox user interface by writing "fritz.box" in the address line in your browser and pressing Enter.
  2. Now a login window appears, in which you enter the router password. This can be found on the back of the router.
  3. Click in the menu on the left side on "Home Network" and then further on "Home Network Overview".
  4. Under the tab "Network Settings" you will find IPv4 addresses. If this is not the case, you must first activate the advanced view.
