Build your own drone - these materials you need

If buying a ready-made drone is too expensive for you, you can build it yourself instead. All you need is suitable tools and some components like motor and propeller. We give you an overview of all the materials you need here.

These are the materials you need to build a drone yourself

Before you start building a drone, you need to get the right materials. For example, you will definitely need a frame for your drone, which you can either buy ready-made or build yourself. Suitable materials for the frame are wood as well as plastic and light metal. In addition, you will need a motor for your drone including a suitable propeller, a flight controller for flight control and an ESC motor controller. To supply the drone with power and to make remote control possible, a lithium polymer battery and an RC system are also needed.

Building a drone yourself: Here's how to do it

Once you have all the components together, you can start making the drone. To do this, start with the frame for the drone by screwing or gluing it together in the desired size of wood, metal or plastic.

1. If the frame is ready or you have bought a ready-made frame, please attach the motor to the frame using cable ties or mounting adhesive strips.
2. Then take the ESC motor controller and attach it to the bottom of the frame.
3. On the top of the drone frame then follows the attachment of the flight controller, the battery, the propeller and the receiver for the remote control.
4. Configure the flight controller then before you connect it by cable to the ESC motor controller and the remote control.
