iPhone: Untrusted Enterprise Developer

Apple offers a division for enterprises in its Developer Program. Here, company-internal apps can be developed and distributed to employees. The whole thing is called "Apple Developer for Organizations" and can be booked by any company for an additional fee. So that the app can be installed, the developer must be trusted.

What exactly is a trusted enterprise developer?

Apple offers it that you as a company develop your own app, which you can then distribute to your employees. If they then want to install the app, it can happen that the error "Untrusted Enterprise Developer" is displayed.
  1. You must first unlock the app before using it. To do this, open Settings on your iPad or iPhone.
  2. Now go to Profiles under General and type in the name of the developer. In some iOS versions, you can find the developer in the Device Management section instead.
  3. Now tap "... trust" to trust the developer's app.
  4. Now you can open the app without any problems.
You need to do the same if you are developing your own iOS app and want to test it for the first time on a real device and not in the simulator. This procedure has the purpose that not just someone else can install an app on your device, but all apps must always be verified by you or by Apple.
