Android: Google Play Store - set up new account

An Android device has Google Play Store installed by default. With the help of this app, you get access to thousands of other apps, some of which you will download and install in the course of using your smartphone. Only if you have an account with the Google Play Store, you will be able to use it.

Android: Google Play Store account sign up - the preparations

Basically, you can sign up and register with Google in the Play Store with a mail. If you do not have a mail yet, you can set it up on the device.
  1. First, go to the settings of your smartphone and look for the item "Accounts & Synchronization".
  2. There you will find the option "Add account".
  3. Now select "Google" as the new account type and confirm that you would like to set up a new account by tapping on "New".
  4. Now fill out all text fields with the required data and enter a desired address. If this is already taken, you will be notified.
  5. If you are satisfied with your entries, tap "Next" and set a password for the account.

  1. Navigate again in the settings to "Accounts & Synchronization" > "Add account" and "Google".
  2. Now indicate that you want to add an existing account and sign in with your details.
  3. Once that's done, you're registered in the Play Store and can start downloading apps.
