Netflix: Set data consumption for mobile devices

Data consumption is always an important issue with mobile apps. This is also the case with Netflix: thanks to the app, you can watch the content on the go, but you should pay close attention to the data consumption. We show you all the setting options.

The mobile Netflix data consumption can be set in several levels.

When using Netflix on mobile devices, consumption is known to be even more important, as it eats up data volume when you use Netflix outside Wi-Fi networks. The mobile Netflix app therefore offers you numerous setting options for data consumption:Start the Netflix app and tap the menu icon with the three horizontal bars in the top left corner.

1. Select "App settings".
2. Tap on the entry "Mobile data consumption" at the very top.

An additional window opens in which you can set the mobile data consumption in the following gradations:

• Off: With this setting, you use Netflix exclusively in the WLAN.
• Niedrig: Auf dieser Stufe müssen Sie mit etwa 300 MB pro Stunde rechnen, also ein Gigabyte alle vier Stunden.
• Mittel: Auf mittlerer Videoqualität verbraucht Netflix ungefähr 700 MB pro Stunde, also ein Gigabyte alle zwei Stunden.
• Hoch: Mit hohen Einstellungen verbraucht Netflix drei Gigabyte pro Stunde für HD und sieben Gigabyte pro Stunde für Ultra-HD.

Damit ist klar: Mit einem herkömmlichen Datenvolumen kommen Sie mit Netflix außerhalb des WLANs nicht allzu weit. Um das Angebot dennoch unterwegs nutzen zu können, empfehlen wir Ihnen, die Titel einfach im WLAN herunterzuladen und später per Offline-Modus abzuspielen.
