Android 9: Transfer data to new phone

Most people shy away from using a new phone because they are afraid of losing all your data. Yet, you can easily transfer your data from your old Android device to your new one. You don't even need an extra app to do this, just Google Drive.

How to transfer data to a new phone on Android?

Simply store your data in Google Drive and sync your new phone with it.
  1. Normally, if you use an Android smartphone, you also have a Google account. This allows you to synchronize and store contacts, calendar, email and other user data.
  2. Even if you take photos or videos, you can upload them to Drive. For this purpose, you have 15 GB free.
  3. To do this, simply go to your photos on the three small dashes in the top corner and tap on "Backup & Sync".
  4. You can also back up most games in the cloud. Often this already happens fully automatically as soon as you install the game. To restore this data on your new phone, just go to "Backup from the Cloud" under "Copy Apps and Data" during setup.
  5. Now you just need to enter your Google Account data and you can download all the settings and data from your old device.
  6. Should Google Photos and Google Drive not yet installed on your smartphone, simply download the associated apps from the cloud.
