Google Photos: Delete files - you have this option

Photos you take with your smartphone can be stored in Google Photos to sync with other devices. However, the storage space of the cloud is limited. Once you have exhausted the free space, it is usually necessary to delete some of the files in Google Photos.

How to delete files from Google Photos

If you want to make room in Google Photos for new files, then you have the option to delete them from your smartphone app or desktop. Since you sync the photos on all devices via the cloud, the files are usually removed on all platforms.

1. Start your smartphone and then open the Google Photos app.
2. Here you can now select which photos you want to delete.
3. Hold down the desired photo until a selection appears. Tippen Sie anschließend auf alle Fotos, die gelöscht werden sollen.
4. Haben Sie die gewünschte Auswahl getroffen, klicken Sie oben rechts auf den Papierkorb.
5. Nun gehen Sie oben links auf das Icon mit den drei waagerechten Strichen.
6. Im neuen Menü finden Sie nun den Eintrag „Papierkorb“.
7. In der nächsten Auswahl klicken Sie auf „Papierkorb leeren“. Die Dateien werden nun restlos gelöscht und nehmen keinen Speicherplatz mehr in Anspruch. Ansonsten wird dieser noch weitere 60 Tage reserviert.
8. Um Fotos auf dem Desktop zu löschen, gehen Sie ebenfalls wie oben beschrieben vor.
