Convert live photos to regular photos: how to do it

A live photo is an image where a snapshot is captured as a movie. This is done by saving 1.5 seconds of video footage while you take the photo. If you want to use the photo as a normal photo, you can save a desired still image as a normal photo.

How to convert a live photo into a normal photo

If you have taken live photos, 1.5 seconds of footage are also saved with the image, which you can play and send as a GIF, for example. A disadvantage of live photos, however, is that they are very large. So if you only want to use the normal photo, you can save the live photo as a normal image. In doing so, you can select a desired still image from the short movie and have numerous images to choose from.

1. Open the photo you want in the Photos app.
2. Tap "Edit" in the top right corner.
3. You will see an icon at the bottom of the bar, which consists of three rings. Tap on it.
4. The live photo will now be displayed to you as a sequence of images.
5. Drag the timeline back and forth to select the appropriate still image.
6. When you are satisfied, tap "Live" and then tap "Save".
7. The photo will now be saved to the gallery.
8. The original live photo will still be there.

Live-Photos deaktivieren

Wenn Sie gar keine Live-Photos aufnehmen möchten, können Sie die Funktion dauerhaft deaktivieren.

1. Öffnen Sie die Kamera.
2. Oben sehen Sie das Symbol für Live-Photos, die drei ineinander liegenden Ringe.
3. Tippen Sie auf das Symbol. Ist dieses durchgestrichen, wurde die Funktion deaktiviert.
