Microsoft Word: Create a timeline - how it works

With a timeline you can display events chronologically clear. Word has a corresponding function and offers various designs. We show you how to proceed.

A timeline can be created quickly in Word and customized as desired.

Whether for processes in the company or historical events, a timeline is a visually perfect visualization. Word knows this and shows itself to be very flexible.

How to create a Word timeline

To create a timeline in Word, follow these steps:
  1. Open the "Insert" tab at the top of the Word menu.

  2. In the "Illustrations" section, click "SmartArt".

  3. Select the "Processes" section in the new window on the left.

  4. Decide on one of the many templates displayed.

  5. Click "Ok" to insert it into the document.

You can still make many adjustments afterwards. Thus, the entire selection of templates is available to you at the top, with the mouse you can also change the alignment and size of the elements. This way you can find the right timeline for every purpose and optimize it individually.
