Depending on which Pokémon game you play, the goal is not only to collect as many Pokémon as possible, but also to have them compete in battles against Pokémon from other trainers. To be as successful as possible in these battles, it's important that you know which attacks are most effective against certain Pokémon. If you have to make a decision about which Pokémon to send into battle or which attack to use, it is important to note that some of the 18 different Pokémon types have different immunities.- If you are fighting a Pokémon of the "Normal" type, attacks of the "Spirit" type do no damage and are therefore ineffective. Similarly, Spirit Pokémon are immune to all attacks of the type "Normal" as well as all combat attacks.
- Furthermore, Fairy Pokémon are immune to all Dragon attacks and Steel Pokémon immune to attacks of the type "Poison".
- To achieve the greatest possible damage value, it is worthwhile to let a Fire Pokémon against Plant, Ice, Beetle or Steel Pokémon, as this doubles the damage.
- Let a Pokémon of one type perform an attack that is assigned to the same type, this increases the effectiveness additionally.
