Windows 10: Enable SMB1 - these steps are necessary

The Server Message Block, SMB for short, is a network protocol for file printing and server services within computer networks. This allows access to files or directories located on another PC. In Windows 10, you have the option to enable or disable SMB.

How to enable SMB1 on Windows 10

The Server Message Block is a network protocol used to control permission to access files and directories located on other computers. The protocol is used in Windows 10, but also in other software projects. Since SMB version 1 is disabled by default when you reinstall Windows servers, you may experience problems with certain services. For this, you must first enable SMB1 via Windows Features.
  1. To do this, go to "Start".
  2. Now enter "Features" in the search query and confirm this with the "Enter" key.
  3. Select the option "Enable or disable Windows features" among the results of your search.
  4. In the next step, you will see a list.
  7. Abschließend bestätigen Sie Ihre Auswahl über „OK“.
