iPhone: Encrypt notes with Touch ID - how to do it

iOS now offers the possibility to encrypt your notes on the iPhone with Touch ID and you don't have to use the app "Password Manager" from the App Store anymore. Instead, you now encrypt directly within the Notes app.

How to encrypt notes with Touch ID?

In order to encrypt notes on your iPhone using Touch ID, you need at least iOS 9.3. Unfortunately, if your device does not support this version of the operating system, you will not be able to use the feature. So check if your iOS is up to the required level.
  1. Go to the Settings app and then continue to "Software Update". Press "Install Update" here to download the latest update.
  2. If you have at least iOS version 9.3 you can encrypt notes. If you want to encrypt your note with Touch ID, you need a device that can capture and store your fingerprint.
  3. To encrypt notes, however, go to the Settings app again and click "Notes".
  4. Now tap "Password". You will be prompted to set a password. Wenn Sie dann unten die Option „Touch ID“ aktivieren, können Sie Ihre Notizen auch per Touch ID entsperren.
  5. Nun können Sie Ihre Notizen schützen. Dazu öffnen Sie diese in der Notizen-App und tippen oben rechts auf das Teilen-Symbol. Am Ende der Liste steht nun die Option „Notiz geschützt“.
