If you have a Surface Pro 6, it is possible to use it as a computer with an attached keyboard or tablet. If you want to operate the device without a keyboard, i.e. only via touch input, it is necessary that you switch to tablet mode beforehand. To do this, click on the "Info Center icon" in the taskbar of the Surface Pro 6 to open it and then click on the "Tablet Mode" button to activate the function.

If tablet mode is activated, the first thing that changes is the view of the home screen on the Surface Pro 6. Instead of the normal desktop, a tile view appears that consists of various elements such as installed programs or browser icons.
  1. In addition, the home screen and all apps are displayed in full-screen mode in tablet mode, and you can view two apps side by side. To do this, simply drag one of the apps to the side to dock it and select the second app.
  2. To make the taskbar and task icons appear in tablet mode as well, navigate to "Settings" > "System" > "Tablet Mode" and set the corresponding sliders to "Off".
  3. To switch to the previous app or go back in an app, tap the "Back Arrow" in the taskbar. Closing apps is again possible in tablet mode by dragging them to the bottom of the screen.
