How the Netflix Smart Download works

The Smart Download is a new function of Netflix, which should help you organize your downloads. If you have activated the function, the episodes of your favorite series are automatically deleted as soon as you have watched them. At the same time, if you have a Wi-Fi connection, a new episode is downloaded directly and is available for you to watch. While Netflix Smart Download was initially only available for Android devices, the function can now also be used on iOS and Windows.

Netflix: How to activate Smart Downloads

If you want to use Netflix's Smart Download function, it is necessary to activate it beforehand. Depending on whether you use Netflix in the browser or the app, and which device you use, a different procedure is necessary for this.

1. If you use Netflix on the iPhone, iPad or an Android device, please navigate to "Download" > "My Downloads" to set up the function and activate the "Smart Downloads" option by moving the switch.
