Lubuntu vs Xubuntu: Therein lie the differences
If you want to install a Linux distribution on your computer, you have several options to choose from. Each distribution has advantages and disadvantages - depending on what you need it for. Lubuntu and Xubuntu are also among them, with the two Ubuntu variants having various differences and similarities.
Lubuntu vs. Xubuntu: An overview
In addition to Linux, there are numerous free operating systems similar to Unix. Thereby, Ubuntu and Co. are usually referred to as so-called Linux distributions. If you are looking for a suitable distribution, especially with minimal resources, then the two Ubuntu variants Lubuntu and Xubuntu offer themselves.- Lubuntu meanwhile runs with LXQt, an implementation of LXDE. In addition, the operating system has low hardware requirements. You only need 512 MB of RAM and a 4 GB hard drive space. For this reason, the software even runs smoothly on a Raspberry Pi.
- Already preinstalled are also all the programs you need, such as Firefox, Trojita, LibreOffice, VLC or PCManFM.
- In Xubuntu, on the other hand, the desktop Xfce is used. In addition to a start menu search and power management, a file manager is also available. The system requirements of the operating system are identical to those of Lubuntu.
- Overall, there are more similarities than differences.
