Facebook: Create Closed Group

Closed groups are suitable for many purposes, for example, for organizing a birthday party, which of course is not intended for strangers. So these are not freely accessible. However, unlike secret groups, they appear in search results.

In Facebook closed groups, there are only invited users.

How to create a closed group in Facebook

In Facebook, you have the option to create different types of groups. While in public groups almost everyone can join without any problems, in closed groups this is only possible with an invitation. If you want to create such a group yourself in Facebook, this is possible in the usual way. During the process, however, it is necessary to make the necessary privacy settings.

1. Start Facebook in your browser and log in with your credentials.
2. Click on the left side in the menu bar on the item "Groups".
3. Here you will also find on the left side the button "Create new group".
4. Now specify a group name.
5. Already in the first step, you can also set the privacy. Select "Private".
6. Follow the further steps to create the group.

By the privacy setting, the group is closed from the beginning. So joining is only possible for invited members. You can still change the privacy afterwards, but not indefinitely. Once a public group has been changed to private, it cannot be undone.
