Xbox One party chat disconnected - this may be the problem

Being able to play online with friends is one of the Xbox One's big plus points. But not only playing together is possible - you can also chat live with friends. If the Xbox Party Chat is suddenly disconnected, there are some solutions.

What can you do if the chat is not working?

Most of the time, the chat is related to Xbox Live service or network connection due to a problem. Check the Live Services website to see if the Live Services are active at the moment. If this is the case, check your network statistics. This works as follows:
  1. Press the "Xbox" button and select "Settings" in the guide.
  2. Navigate to "General" and therein to the option "Network Settings".
  3. Turn here to the sub-item "Detailed Network Statistics".
  4. The statistics found here you check against the rating scale of Microsoft. You can find the information you need at the bottom of the page.
  5. You can also "Test Multiplayer Connection" to get to the bottom of the error.

How do you test the Xbox Live connection?

It is best for all participants of the party chat to test your Xbox Live connection to check if there is an error in the network address translation (NAT) for one person. The connection test works like this:
  1. Press the "Xbox" button and select "Settings".
  2. Go to "Network" under "All Settings".
  3. Select the option "Test Network Connection" in the "Network Settings".
  4. If a NAT warning is displayed for a participant in the party chat, this person must change the NAT type
If necessary, it may also help to restart the console. You can reach this function via the settings menu of the Xbox One. If the console no longer responds, you can also force a cold reboot by pressing the "Xbox" button for ten seconds.
