Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus: Hard Reset - here's how

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus comes with some new hardware, which in turn supports new features. If you want to reset the smartphone because an error occurs that cannot be fixed in any other way or because you simply need a completely free memory again, this can be done in just a few steps.

How does the hard reset work on the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus?

On the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, there are various ways to perform the hard reset. However, you should generally make a backup of the phone beforehand, because a hard reset will delete all files.
  1. Download the free Smart Switch software from Samsung.
  2. After installation, start the program and connect the cell phone to your PC. Confirm access to the device.
  3. Click "Backup" and follow the instructions to create a backup.
  4. Now you can reset the phone to factory settings by going to Settings and then click "Backup and Reset" > "Reset to Factory Settings".
  5. If you have no way to access your phone because it already crashes at startup, you can also perform the factory reset via the recovery menu.
  6. To do this, when the smartphone is off, press and hold the Bixby button, the power button and the volume up button until the Samsung logo appears.
  7. In the menu, now select "wipe data / factory reset".
