Delete Google Discover - does it work at all?

Thanks to your Google search queries, Google Discover sends you information on topics specially adapted to you as a newsfeed on your smartphone or tablet. If you no longer want to use the Google service, you can deactivate it via the settings.

How to deactivate Google Discover

Since Google Discover is often permanently integrated, you cannot easily delete the newsfeed from your Android tablet or smartphone. However, you have the option to disable the service via the Google app settings. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Call up the Google app.
  2. Tap on the three-dot symbol at the bottom right to call up the menu and select the "Settings" item.
  3. Switch to the "General" category in the settings.
  4. There you will find the option to disable the Google Discover newsfeed.
If you use Google Discover via the browser on your Android smartphone or tablet, you can also turn off the function there.
  1. Open the browser and call the URL google.com.
  2. Tap on the three-dash icon. Select "Settings" from the menu.
  3. Switch to the "Discover" category in the settings.
  4. Turn on the "Do not show on home page" option.

Disable Google Discover on iOS devices

If you use the Google Discover feature on an iOS device, you also have the option to turn off the service. As with Android devices, you can find the corresponding options for this in the settings of the Google app or, if you use the service via the browser, in the settings that you can access on the google.com website.
