Telegram: Secret chat - what to know

Telegram is the most popular messenger after WhatsApp, as it scores mainly for its security. WhatsApp is always in the press because of security vulnerabilities. If you are concerned and do not want anything to be cached on Telegram, it is best to use a secret chat.

How do you use a secret chat on Telegram?

You can open a secret chat very easily with Telegram.

1. On iOS, open your chats by going to "Chats" at the bottom of the app. Tap the icon with the paper and pen in the top right corner to create a nine chat.
2. In the following overview, you can now choose whether you want to publish a channel, a secret chat or a new group.
3. Tap on "New secret chat" and select the person with whom you want to start a chat.
4. The other participant must first confirm the chat before the secret chat is established.
5. If you want to check the security of the chat, simply compare your secret keys. To do this, tap on the profile picture of your chat partner in the chat and then tap on "Secret key". If the keys are the same, then the chat is secure and you can start chatting.
6. Another security feature is the function to time limit messages. Your messages can then be read even with your chat partner only for a short time.
