Open and edit PUB files - how to do it

PUB files are a special file format used exclusively by the Microsoft Publisher program. If you have not created the PUB file yourself, we will show you here how to open and edit a PUB file on your PC or laptop.

What PUB files are

PUB files are files that contain publications. They are created with Microsoft Publisher and are mainly used in the creation of professional designs for brochures or flyers. If you have a PUB file and want to open it, you can only do this with Microsoft Publisher. If you do not have this program, you can still open PUB files. To do this, download the trial version of Microsoft Office, which you can use for free for 30 days.

How to open and edit PUB files

If you have the trial version of Microsoft Office installed on your PC or laptop, files with the extension PUB should normally be opened automatically with Publisher when you double-click them. If this is not the case for you, please proceed as follows:

1. Navigate to the location of the PUB file and right-click on the file.
2. Thereupon the context menu will open, where you please select the entry "Open with" to view the list of available programs.
3. Select Microsoft Publisher in this and check "Always open PUB files with this program" to set Publisher as the default program for PUB files.
4. Apply the changes by clicking "OK".
5. Afterwards you can open the file as usual and edit it further in Publisher.
