Battlefield 1: Driving a tank - how it works

To drive a tank yourself in Battlefield 1, select before the game starts that you want to fight as a tank soldier. However, this special class is only available in multiplayer mode. We give you an overview of what to consider as a tank soldier here.

How driving a tank works in Battlefield 1

In Battlefield 1, you have several classes to choose from at the beginning. To drive a tank during the game, simply choose the special class offered in multiplayer mode and play it as a tank soldier. As a tank soldier, you are most dangerous in the tank, you can not only drive it, but also repair it while driving. In total, Battlefield 1 offers you the three types of tanks: light, medium and heavy, each of which is equipped differently.

How tanks work in Battlefield 1

Having decided to support your team as a tank soldier, it is important to follow some tips in dealing with the vehicle. Tanks in Battlefield 1 are particularly fast and can also drive through buildings and walls.

1. While tanks are protected against conventional weapons, this does not apply to stationary weapons and explosives.
2. Therefore, teamwork also plays a big role when driving a tank. Make sure that every seat in the tank is occupied and every direction is covered, as this is the only way you can defend yourself against enemy attacks with explosives.
3. As a tank driver, additionally pay close attention to your surroundings and mark enemies, enemy tanks, aircraft, infantry as well as cavalry.
4. If you encounter an enemy tank, keep in mind that you as a driver yourself can only fight against it with the main gun.
