To ensure that nothing goes wrong in the process and that the heat can be transported, there are a few points to consider. First, you have to remove the remains of the old paste before applying the new one.

How to apply new thermal paste

If you want to replace your CPU with a new one, you need to renew the thermal paste. To perform this procedure, you will first need new thermal paste. In addition, a disposable glove is advantageous to be able to distribute the thermal paste later. Some pastes already come with a suitable brush. You will also need a damp cleaning cloth. Optionally, you can also use special cleaning agents for this.

1. First clean the surface with the damp cloth.
2. Afterwards, the CPU and the cooling unit must also be freed from dust or fingerprints. For this you can also use special cleaning agents or an eyeglass cleaning cloth.
3. Now apply the thermal paste to the silver upper part of the CPU. Make sure that you do not apply too much paste. Then spread it with the disposable glove so that a thin layer is formed. There should be no free area left.
4. Remove the paste from the metal frame if it gets on the frame during application.
5. Afterwards, quickly mount the cooling to avoid contamination. Be careful not to smear the paste, otherwise it will be necessary to reapply.
