Windows 10: Switch from 32-bit to 64-bit version

The Windows 10 operating system comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Which version is right for you depends on your hardware architecture. If you have the 32-bit version installed, then you can switch to the 64-bit, but only if your hardware allows you to do so.

How to switch from 32-bit to 64-bit version of Windows 10

With a 64-bit hardware architecture, you can easily use the 32-bit version of Windows 10. However, this is not possible the other way around. If you are currently using the 32-bit operating system, you can switch to the 64 only if your hardware allows it.
  1. First check which hardware architecture you are using. To do this, open the settings in Windows 10 by pressing the key combination "Windows key" + "I".
  2. Select the item "System" and then switch to "Info" on the left side.
  3. In the "Device Specifications" section, you will see the entry "System Type".
  4. Here you can see which Windows version you have installed and whether your processor is compatible.
