Android: Create multiple users on one device

On your Android devices, it is partially possible to create multiple users on one system. However, not all models support the feature, so you'll have to help out with an app on some.

Smartphone and tablet: creating multiple users for your Android device

Since Android version 5.0 Lollipop, many models of smartphones and tablets allow you to create multiple users on one device. Whether it is possible on your Android, simply check by searching the following menu:
  1. Open the settings on the smartphone or tablet.
  2. Now look for the menu item "Users" or "Accounts".
  3. If you can create another user account here, tap on it and follow the instructions. However, if you can only add email and other accounts, then your device does not have the option.
If your Android is not compatible to create multiple users on one device, use the app "SwitchMe" from the Google Play Store, for example.

Manage user permissions

Once you have created another user profile, all profiles are password protected. However, only the first user has all the rights on the device. If he deletes an app, for example, it will be deleted for all other users as well. In the "Users" menu, tap on the gear icon next to the new user to manage his rights and, for example, allow calls and downloads, if you wish.
