GIMP: Center text - put your texts in focus

If you want to include a text in one of your works with GIMP, it is important that it is centered properly. Otherwise, not only can the focus of the text shift, but the harmony of the entire project may be affected.

How to center text

If you use the text tool to place text in the image, you can use the text editor to center what you have written.
  1. In principle, centering a text in GIMP is easy if you know how to do it.
  2. Right-click on the frame where your text is to open the context menu.
  3. In this menu you can not only set the alignment of your text, but also other parameters, such as the font, the font enhancement or even the edge smoothing.
  4. Under the aspect "Alignment" you choose how you want the arrangement of your text. You can choose from centered, left-aligned or right-aligned.
  5. Select "centered" for the alignment and your text will appear in the text field as justified.

When does it make sense to display a text centered?

It is important that the hyphenation of your text is still correct even if you decide to display it centered. If this aspect is no longer correct, you may have problems understanding the text. If you are not sure if this is the case, you should try it out in advance.
