Chrome: Enable Java - is it possible?

If you need to enable Java in Chrome to access certain content, unfortunately it is not possible. For a few years now, Google has not supported items that load with Java. Instead, you have to resort to another browser.

Java refers to a programming language as well as a development environment that is mainly used to write web applications, programs for computers and apps. The apps for the Android operating system are also written in Java.

If you use the Chrome browser, you do not have to install Java, but only activate it. This works directly in the menu of Google Chrome:
  1. First open Google Chrome.
  2. Click in the upper right corner on the menu button, which you recognize by three dots arranged one above the other.
  3. Now open the settings and click on "Privacy and Security" on the left.
  4. Here you now select "Website Settings".
  5. In the "Content" section, now click on "JavaScript" and select "Allow" by sliding the slider to the right.
To run other applications such as Java games with Java, you need to dinstall the Java Runtime Environment on your PC. This is pre-installed on some devices, but on others you need to download it first. Im Browser nimmt Java jedoch eine Sonderstellung ein.
