Finding Your Switch Key: How to Find Your Stream Key

Twitch is among the largest live streaming platforms for games you'll find online. To stream there yourself, you need a so-called Twitch Stream Key. With this key, you connect streaming software like Open Broadcaster Software or XSplit to your channel so you can broadcast live.

How to find your stream key on Twitch

To view your stream key on Twitch, do the following:
  1. Log in to the website with your user credentials.
  2. Click on your nickname in the upper right corner and select "Dashboard" in the menu.
  3. On the left side of the navigation you will find the item "Channel" in the category "Settings".
  4. Here you will find under "Stream Key & Preferences" the entry "Primary Stream Key" and can display it by clicking on "Show".
  5. Alternatively, you can also copy the stream key for your channel to the clipboard.
To be able to stream on your channel now, you need to enter the Stream Key in your software.

Reset Stream Key - how it works

The Stream Key is about like a password for your account, so you should never share the key with others. Through the key it is possible to get full access to the account. So take good care of it. If it ever happens that the key has been compromised, you can reset it. This can be done via the settings.
