Android: Revert update - here's how to do it

Your Android devices usually have regular updates. However, that doesn't mean that you will always like the changes. If you are not satisfied with the latest update, you have the option to undo it. Before doing so, however, do not forget to make a backup of your data.

How to undo an update on Android

After an update has been downloaded and installed, sometimes major changes to the system become visible. If you do not want to keep these changes, you can undo them by deleting the update. Before you perform the following steps, be sure to make a backup of your system to prevent losing important files. When downgrading the system, all files will be removed from your device.
  1. The first thing you need to do is enable the developer options on your device.
  2. To do this, go to the "Developer Options" menu item in the settings.
  3. Click on "Debugging" and turn on the "USB Debugging" option. Confirm the change with "Ok".
  4. Now download a "Factory Image" with the desired Android version from a website of your choice and unpack it.
  5. Connect the Android device to the PC.
  6. Then you need to download and install the Fastboot tool on your computer.
