Steam: Update ranked - how to change the order

Steam is a free program from Valve Corporation. With the distribution platform provided, you can purchase games and manage, download and install them through your library. If you download multiple games or updates at the same time, they will be queued and performed one after the other.

How to change the order of enqueued updates in Steam

When you download multiple games and updates on Steam, they are enqueued and run one after another. If an update has been queued, but you want to download it immediately, then you need to change the order of the downloads. You set this manually via the Steam client.

1. First start Steam on your computer and log in, if necessary, with your credentials.
2. Click at the top of the bar on "Library" and then in the dropdown menu on "Downloads".
3. Now you will see all the downloads that are performed and are in the waiting list.
4. To the right of each download are several buttons.
5. Klicken Sie hier auf den Pfeil, der nach oben zeigt, wird dieses Update in der Warteliste um eine Position nach oben gerückt.
6. Führen Sie den Schritt so lange durch, bis das gewünschte Update sich an erster Stelle befindet.
7. Über das Kreuz-Symbol können Sie zudem einen Download komplett aus der Warteschlange entfernen.
8. Sobald das oberste Update heruntergeladen und installiert wurde, rückt das nächste automatisch nach und wird bearbeitet.
