Alexa doesn't understand me - here's what you can do about it

The voice assistant Alexa can help you with numerous everyday tasks. So you can create new appointments in your calendar or ask about the weather by voice command. However, if the assistant no longer understands your voice commands, then this can have different causes.

What you can do if Alexa doesn't understand you

If you use the Alexa voice assistant, then it is important that it understands you. Only then can Alexa subsequently execute your commands. However, if this is not the case, then this can have different causes.
  1. The first thing you should do is change the location of the smart speaker, as it may be that the assistant can not hear you well only because of this. In this case, the device should be at least 20 to 24 centimeters away from a wall. In addition, there should be no sources of interference in the vicinity.
  2. Then check whether the Internet connection with the assistant is stable or breaks. If there are problems with your Internet connection, contact your provider.
  3. Also background noise can ensure that Alexa does not understand your voice command correctly and therefore does not respond or responds incorrectly. Therefore, try to keep the background noise as low as possible.
  4. If you have several Alexa devices in close proximity, it may happen that the right device does not respond to the command. In this case, find out which device it is and increase the distance between the assistants if necessary.
