Safari doesn't open page - what you can do
If Safari doesn't open a page correctly, it is often due to incorrect DNS settings. Other causes may also be in question, but can usually be fixed by following a few easy steps.
First aid: Safari does not open pages
If Safari does not open a page, you should first read through the error message in the browser. This can already give information about the error, such as a missing Internet connection.- Make sure you have entered the correct address of the website.
- Reload the page or restart Safari directly.
- Check your VPN and firewall connections, if you use any.
- Check if there is an update available for your Mac or PC.
- Test if you can reach other websites without problems. If you only have the problem with one website, try loading it without plugins like an adblocker.
Fix DNS problems
The DNS settings are important to make sure you really land on the page you want to reach. However, you can easily reset the DNS settings in the System Preferences.- Open the "System Preferences" app on your Mac.
- Now click on "Network" and select the network you are currently connected to the Internet.
- Then click on "More Options" and now on the "DNS" setting.
- If you now find any settings in the fields, check them. Now click on the minus symbol at the bottom left to remove them. Some entries can not be removed, but you can ignore them.
- Now the entries should be automatically filled in again. Save the settings with a click on "OK" and on "Apply".
